Safe vs Free

“I don’t want to learn to drive, it is so dangerous. Do you know how many people die in the car accidents every year?”

“I don’t want to take the airplane. What if it crashes?”

“I don’t want to quit my job and look for something I might enjoy. I won’t die doing something I don’t like.”

“I don’t want to break up this relationship even though it is toxic. It’s better than being alone.”

We like staying in the safe zone, especially when we have been in it for a long time. Who knows what might happen if we leave the safe zone. Although it is not perfect and we are not happy about it, we think it is better being safe than taking risks.

Some people are curious and adventurous. They like to see what is out there and are willing to take risks. When they step out of their safe zone, so many more opportunities show up. The world is endless. That feeling is called freedom.

People differ in their preferences for security or freedom, neither is right or wrong. Just need a little courage, you may have both.
